VISIT THE HOLY SHROUD AND VEIL OF VERONICA:

Pope Benedict XVI recently announced a rare public Exposition of the Holy Shroud in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy in April and May 2010. Arrangements have been made through Globus International and All About Travel for a tour and pilgrimage to Turin  to view the Holy Shroud and Manoppello to see the Veil of Veronica from April 8 to 16th (details below). The tour will be featuring our guest speaker John C. Iannone, Shroud author, lecturer and film-maker, who will provide presentations on the Holy Shroud and the Veronica Veil en route.

REVISED ITINERARY TO VISIT THE HOLY SHROUD AND VEIL OF VERONICA: 

Day 1 - 08 April (Thursday) - Depart from the USA to Rome.

Day 2 - 09 April (Fri) - Arrival in Rome, Italy.
Upon Arrival in Rome, meet your Globus Tour Director for a group transfer to the hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. Later enjoy this evenings welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Note: Time permitting, ask your Tour Director about a possible optional excursion to the CATACOMBS and ST. PAUL OUTSIDE-THE-WALLS.

Day 3 - 10 April (Sat.) - Rome.
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the VATICAN MUSEUMS and the SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for Michelangelo's ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment. Continue to monumental ST. PETER'S SQUARE and BASILICA. Cross the Tiber River and visit the COLOSSEUM and the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman legions marched in triumph.

Day 4 - 11 April (Sun) - Rome to Manoppello
Journey to Manoppello this morning to view the VERONICA VEIL in the Church of the Volto Santo (Holy Face) di Manoppello. Continue to the hilltop village of Assisi, home of St.. Francis and St. Clare. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 5 - 12 April (Mon) - Assisi
Start the day with a guided walking tour of Assisi. Visit the BASILICA OF ST. FRANCIS and ST. CLARE. See the crucifix that spoke to St. Francis. Also visit the ST. MARY OF THE ANGELS BASILICA and the PORTIUNCULA. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 - 13 April (Tue) - Assisi- Genoa - Asti - Turin
First stop this morning is in Genoa, Italy's greatest seaport and the city where Christopher Columbus was born. Your Orientation drive includes Columbus' birthplace and the FLOWER MONUMENT, showing his three-vessel fleet. Next, enter the Lange area and arrive in Asti, known for its Spumante and Barbera wine.  Here, enjoy a WINE TASTING. Time afterward in town, then visit a local NOUGAT CONFECTIONER and savor piece  of hand-made torrone, before continuing to Turin, home of the HOLY SHROUD, capital of Piedmont and birthplace of the Fiat car. Dinner at hotel.

Note: Meeting Room at the hotel tonight included, for 1 hour, with chairs and speaker podium. John Iannone will do a Presentation on "The Mystery of the Shroud of Turin: The Case for Authenticity" with colorful powerpoint presentation.

Day 7 - 14 April (Wed) Turin
During your sightseeing with a local guide, admire the 548-feet-high Mole Antonelliana, symbol of Turin, and the Lingotto Fiera, the former Fiat factory that was transformed into an impressive multi-function center by architect Renzo Piano. Next, walk through the historic center and visit the HOLY SHROUD MUSEUM and then The CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN BAPTIST TO VIEW THE HOLY SHROUD.  Afternoon and evening at leisure. Ask your Tour Director for dinner suggestions.

Day 8  - 15 April (Thur) Turin - Milan - Stresa
Your morning is free for last minute shopping or perhaps an excursion to the second largest Egyptian Museum in the world. In early afternoon depart to Milan where you enjoy a brief orientation drive. Overnight in nearby Stresa. Farewell dinner at the hotel this evening.

Day 9  - 16 April (Fri) - Stresa - Transfer to Airport.
Enjoy breakfast this morning followed by a group transfer to the Milan airport for your homebound flight.
